In the early morning of September 15, 2021, after a lengthy battle with illness Adam was called home to be with the Lord. Adam was born on October 23, 1937, to the late Robert Boatwright, and Thedocia Beard Boatwright in Bamberg, SC. He was the husband of the late Marie Boatwright who he shared 57 years of marriage with before her passing on August 7, 2021. 

     Adam graduated from Colleton County high school in Walterboro, South Carolina. At an early age he became a member of William Chapel Baptist Church in Ehrhardt, South Carolina. Adam moved to York, Pa in 1959. Adam was employed at WellSpan York Hospital in the laundry department. He retired in 2002 after 42 years of service. 

     Dad enjoyed the simple life. After retirement he enjoyed watching court shows on TV, and sitting on the front porch talking to friends and family. Dad once said to me he always wanted a brick house, and a good women to put in it. He was thankful that God sparred his life to accomplish both goals. 

     Adam leaves to cherish his memory, three daughters, Valerie Bright of Carlisle, PA, Linda Lehigh and Brenda Boatwright of York ,PA; two sons, Adam Boatwright, Jr. and Robert Boatwright of York ,PA; nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Justine Boatwright of York, PA and Delores Boatwright of Wilmington, DE; one brother, Randy Boatwright of Wilmington, DE. He was preceded in death by his wife, and his parents, one sister, Wilhelmina Thomas, and one brother Robert Boatwright. 

     A Celebration of Life Service will be held on September 21, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc., 822 E. Market St, York with Pastor Aaron Wilford officiating. A viewing will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.  Burial will take place immediately after the service at Prospect Hill Cemetery. Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc. is entrusted with the arrangements.
