Ellen Marie (Werner) Johnson, 83, of West York was called home to Heaven by the Lord on Saturday May 22, 2021 from York Hospital. Ellen was the daughter of the late Mary Catherine (Ambrose) and Marshall Mann Werner Sr. Born on February 5, 1938 in Westminster, MD.

     She leaves her husband of 60 years Ralph Eugene Johnson. 

     Ellen attended the city of York schools. She was a life long homemaker. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and her one great granddaughter. 

     She attended Otterbein U.M. Church of York faithfully since a young child, with the closing of her home church she became a member of Calvary U.M. Church oh York. Ellen taught Sunday school for over 30 years to kindergarteners at Otterbein U.M and was involved with Rummage and Bake sales the church held. 

      Ellen leaves to cherish her memory a loving family. A daughter Karen Inkrote and husband Mike; two brothers, Marshall Werner, Jr and Robert "Bob" Werner, Sr. and wife Violet Judy of York; three grandchildren, Amanda C. Inkrote of Fredrick, MD., Andrew M. Inkrote and wife Samantha of East Berlin, and Aaron W. Inkrote of Charlotte, NC. Ellen also leaves a precious great-granddaughter Quinn Ava Inkrote, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Frank Werner, and Richard Werner; and her sister, Edna Mae Steinkamp. 

      A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc., 822 E. Market St, York. Pastor Mike Brossman will be officiating.  A viewing will be held prior to the service from 10 a.m to 11 a.m. Burial will take place immediately after the service at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial contributions to the SPCA, American Heart Association and Calvary U.M Church.
