James (Jim) Richard Mann, 71, passed away unexpectedly the morning of November 29, 2021.  He was the loving and cherished husband of Nancy (Harlin) Mann, with whom he would have celebrated 50 years of marriage on June 24, 2022, a milestone he was so excited and proud to celebrate.

James was born in York, PA on April 14, 1950 to the late Robert and Amy (Shue) Mann.  He retired from Johnson Controls in 2018 after a 47 year career with the company.  While James was proud of his work, his most cherished achievement was the family around which his world revolved.  He was the incredible and loving father of his daughter, Jennifer, and son, Jason (both of York), loving and doting grandfather to his grandson, Andrew and granddaughter, Leah, and best bud to his grand-dogs, Cooper and Loopy.  James was the rock and protector of his family.  He was kind, generous and always there whenever he was needed, no matter how it may have interrupted his plans.  Words cannot describe how much James will be missed by his family.  When not spending time with his family, James loved football, something he played for years, working in his garage, tinkering on cars and making plans for his next drag car.

In addition to his family, James leaves behind extended family, countless friends and acquaintances whose lives he was able to positively influence.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on December 18 from 5-7pm at Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc., 822 E. Market St, York.  In lieu of flowers, please honor James by spreading kindness and generosity to others, something about which he was passionate.  Those wishing to make a donation in James’s memory may donate to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or other children’s organization.
