Barbarann Donnan, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, went home to be with the Lord Sunday evening May 24th. She was surrounded by the love of the family she cherished so deeply. To know Barbara was to know kindness, warmth, and quiet selflessness. She devoted her life to caring for others and found her greatest joy in the people she loved.
Family meant everything to Barbara. She was the heart of countless gatherings, welcoming everyone with homemade meals, a warm kitchen, and a loving spirit that made people feel at home. Her homemade apple dumplings and pot pie became treasured family favorites, made not simply from recipes, but from love.
She found happiness in baking, cooking, and serving the people around her in both big and small ways.
A woman of deep faith, Barbara loved Jesus and loved her church family. Some of her fondest memories were serving in the church kitchen and being the person others could count on whenever cookies or cakes were needed. She lived her faith gently and faithfully through acts of service, compassion, and love. She
found comfort and joy in hymns and Elvis music, which so often filled her home and her heart. More than anything in this world, Barbara adored her family. Her granddaughter Samantha was one of the greatest joys of her life, and the bond they shared was deeply special. Barbara loved fiercely and cared endlessly. The love she gave so freely will continue to live on in the people blessed enough to have known her.
Barbara shared 64 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Sam Donnan, before his passing last year. Their life together was built on love, family, faith, and unwavering devotion to one another.
She is survived by her daughter, Nicole Ensign; her son-in-law, Brian Ensign; her granddaughter, Samantha Ensign; her brother, Kenneth Stoutzenberger Jr.; her sister-in-law, Donita Stoutzenberger; her sister, Donna Kay Shoemaker; her niece, Kendra Stoutzenberger; her nephew, Brent Shoemaker; and her great-nephews, Jake and Logan Shoemaker, along with many extended family members and dear friends who loved her deeply.
Barbara will be remembered for her gentle heart, unwavering faith, loving spirit, and the way she made ordinary moments feel special simply by being there. Though her family’s hearts are broken, they find comfort in knowing she is now at peace in the presence of the Savior she loved so dearly. Her memory will live on in every family gathering, every hymn sung, every shared recipe, and every act
of love done in her honor.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, June 5, 2026 at the Church of the Open Door, 8 Carlisle Ct, York, PA 17408. The visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. with the service starting at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon to follow.
