Charles R. Potter, Jr., 99, passed away January 14, 2025. He was the husband of the late Ruth D. Potter. Born in Hagerstown, MD on November 10, 1925, he was the son of the late Charles R. and Phyllis Potter, Sr.
Charles was a lifetime member of Hanover American Legion and of Kruetz Creek Post 7045 where he served as Commander from 1968-1972. He liked to hunt and enjoyed walking his dog, Rocky. Charles also enjoyed traveling and going on short trips to Atlantic City. He proudly served our country in the US Navy during WWII as an aircraft machinist aboard the USS Cleveland. He will be deeply missed by his family.
Charles leaves to cherish his memory six children, Charles R. Potter III (Patricia), Gwendolyn Bloss (John), Debra Kostiha (Michael), Douglas Potter (Kimberly), Dennis Potter and Gregory Potter; grandchildren, Sheri, Charles IV, Barry, James, Corey, Chad, Shannen, Lydia and Melody; great grandchildren, Zach, Ricky, Grant, Brittany, Mason, Camden, Bryce, Brianna, Penelope, Roman, Taylor, Kamdyn, Maddox, Channing and Delaney; great great grandchildren, Desiree, Kyler, Kayden, Zoey, Wren and Tegan.
He was preceded in death by son, Richard Potter; granddaughter, Trina Hall; great granddaughter, Cierra Lugo; and sister Virginia Kiehl.
A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Green Mount Cemetery, 721 Carlisle Ave, York, PA 17404. Please meet inside the gates at 10:45 a.m. Pastor Ricky McCarl will be officiating. Full military rites provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc. is entrusted with the arrangements.
