Denton J. Coyne Jr., 84, entered into rest on December 17, 2023. He was the loving husband of the late Eleanor (Koch) Coyne who passed away in 2019. Born on August 22, 1939 in Reading, PA; he was the son of the late Denton J. Coyne Sr. and the late Mary E. (Lawyer) Coyne, as well as the brother of the late Viola Coyne.
Denton J Coyne Jr., more commonly known as Jack, was a very hard worker in the steel industry for many years. Jack loved fishing, reading/researching history, old western movies and history shows, and he was a stellar Civil War and WWII buff. You could find Jack watching a Rocky Balboa movie or anything with Stallone in it. Jack and his late wife Eleanor enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren. Some memorable moments include taking them on educational trips to D.C. and Philadelphia. In Jack’s late years, he cherished spending time with his great-grandchildren, he even showed Karter how to crawl.
Denton leaves behind to carry him on in memory, daughters, Cynthia (Coyne) Keinard, Christine Coyne, Candace Coyne, and Sherry Coyne; step-daughters, Crystal (Slaybach) Kinard and Theresa Edwards; step-son, Joseph R. Schaeffer Jr.; grandchildren Mark, Margo, Jennifer, Andrew & Kattrina; and great-grandchildren Brylee, Kahleel, Karter, Kayden, & Elijah. He was preceded in death by his children, Denton J. Coyne III, Jackaline Coyne and Debra Coyne.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at 5 p.m. at Gladfelter Funeral Home Inc., 822 E. Market St, York. Pastor Rodney Glass will be officiating.
