Elder Lenward “Lenny” McMillan, Sr. was called home to be with the Lord on April 19, 2025. He was born on October 17, 1946, in Ehrhardt, South Carolina, to the late Norman and Rebecca (Brabham) McMillan, Sr.
For over 30 years, Lenward served faithfully as an Elder in the Church of God in Christ. He was a devoted student of the Bible and lived a life rooted in faith. He retired from York International, where he worked as a skilled machinist.
Lenward was a lifelong San Francisco 49ers fan and an enthusiastic collector of pens, coins, and model cars and trucks. He had a green thumb and took great pride in his plants. Known for his warm personality and sense of humor, he loved to laugh and brought joy to those around him.
He is survived by his children: Wayne McMillan and his wife Danielle of Houston, TX, and Crystal Ouedraogo of Baltimore, MD; grandchildren: Ty’Quez McMillan, Makia Collins, Gabrielle “Gabby” McMillan, Savannah Fountain, Sa’Nyla Fountain, and Mackenzie McMillan; and great-grandchildren: Shamiyah, Tsukuyomi “Yomi,” Hezekiah, and Jade Ty’Lynn.
He is also survived by his siblings: Mary Fields, Annie Quick, Rebecca Jamison and her husband Robert Jamison Sr., and John McMillan and his wife JoAnn; his former wife and the mother of his children, Ethel M. McMillan; as well as many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Lenward was preceded in death by his sons, Christopher McMillan and Lenward “Wood” McMillan Jr.; his grandson, Zion Ouedraogo; and siblings, Norman McMillan Jr. and Elizabeth Dickerson.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for his faith, kindness, and joyful spirit.
A viewing will be held May 2, 2025 from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. at Unity Church of God in Christ, 121 Ridge Ave York, Pa 17403. The Celebration of Life service will begin at 11 a.m. with Pastor Tony Fields officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Mount Rose Cemetery. Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc. is entrusted with the arrangements.
