Linda L. Thornton, 85, of York, passed away October 14, 2026 at the York Hospital surrounded by her family. Born in York, PA, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Anna Mae Linebaugh.
Linda attended William Penn High School and went on the work at many fine dining restaurants over the years, most recently at the County Club of York.

Linda will be remembered as a selfless woman who was well loved by all who knew her. She always had a smile on her face and found joy in the simple pleasures that filled her days. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, Soduku, reading, and visiting the Casino to play slot machines, especially in Las Vegas in her younger years. She also looked forward to attending craft shows and Sunday dinners with her daughter. She enjoyed Penn State football and watching golf. In recent years, Linda enjoyed Monday night Bingo and afternoon Poker with her friends at Springwood Overlook Senior Living, where those gatherings were a familiar part of her routine. Linda loved her family and will be missed immensely.

Linda leaves to cherish her memory her children, Mark Thornton and companion Lorie Conaway, Denise Houck and husband Jeff; grandchildren, Shane Houck (Nicki), Brenden Houck and Jordan Houck (Molly); great grandson, Parker Houck; siblings, Judy Freed, Craig Linebaugh (Lynn), Pam Buchmyer, Beth Heilman (Don), and Lisa Hamme (Claude). Linda was preceded in death by her son, Ted Thornton and her sister, Theresa Ritter.
