Margaret J. Ness, 92, entered into her Eternal rest at 7:15 a.m. on Sunday, October 11, 2026 at Memorial UPMC, York. Margaret (Margie) was born on July 1, 1934 to William W. and Minnie McGlaughlin. She was born the fifth of six children. Her family included Betty (Raymond) Hengst, Herb (Janice) McGlaughlin, William (Romaine) McGlaughlin, Virginia (Richard) Joseph and Dottie (Toot) Lichty. In addition to their spouses, her brothers and sisters offered to her many nieces and nephews who also loved her dearly. She was the loving and devoted wife to John H. Ness Sr. from 1952 until his death in 2014. During their 62 years of marriage they birthed and raised five children along with raising and caring for many cats, dogs, two horses, a pony and a goat. Margie is survived by all her children along with their spouses. John (Tanya), Mike (Tracy), Tina, Tami (Terry) Bowles and William (Josie) along with her dog, Dolly (certainly cannot forget her third "daughter" and wonderful companion in her life's journey). She also cared for two foster children, April and Mark, early in her marriage. Her children have blessed her with a total of 8 grandchildren and 24 great grand children through the years. In November, 2026, she experienced great grief with the unexpected death of her grand daughter, Rachael.

Margie briefly worked outside her home at Mailman's Department store and as a candy striper at York Hospital before her marriage and during early years of her marriage. For several years she was a Sunday School teacher for grade school children at Bethlehem United Methodist Church. She has been an active and loving member of York Seventh Day Adventist Church from 1997 to the present. She was a "Mother" to some and a Sister to all of her Church family.

Margie was indeed a loving Mother and friend to whomever entered her home-male, female, human or not-dogs and cats were always welcomed. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her, especially her grade school buddy and life long friend, Connie, who introduced her to her husband to be. Sorry that all her dear friends cannot be listed here. She knew who you were and you knew who you were-friends forever.

A Service of Celebration for Margie will be held at the York Seventh Day Adventist Church on Sunday, October 18 at 4:00 p.m. preceded by a time for visitation from 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Friends and family are then welcome to gather together for dinner in the Fellowship Hall at the Church. All are welcome and encouraged to attend. Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc is entrusted with the arrangement.
