Maybella Dorothy Rhoads, affectionately known as May, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2025, at Rest Haven–York Retirement Home. Born on December 16, 1937, she was the beloved wife of the late John Gilbert Rhoads.
She is survived by her son, Gilbert Rhoads and his wife Crystal; her daughter, Kaye (Rhoads) Sigismondi and her husband Craig; five grandchildren, Derek Rhoads and his wife Charlotte, Douglas Rhoads, Lindsay Ranieri and her husband Julian, Megan Douden, and Matthew Douden; two step-grandsons, Craig Sigismondi II and his wife Brittnee, and Collin Sigismondi; as well as five great-grandchildren.
May was a registered nurse whose gentle and caring nature touched countless lives. She dedicated much of her career to caring for newborns and their families at the hospital—work she truly loved. Her compassion extended beyond her profession, as she faithfully served her church community and cared deeply for all those around her.
An active member of York Bible Methodist Church, May lived out her faith with quiet strength and devotion.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 14, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Parkville Bible Church, 800 Whisler Road, Etters. A service celebrating May’s life will begin at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Jeffrey Paulus Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Parkville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to York Bible Methodist Church, 1701 West Princess Street, York, PA 17404.
May’s gentle heart, steadfast faith, and loving devotion to her family will be cherished always.
She is now rejoicing in the presence of her Savior, whom she loved and served so faithfully.
