Norma Y. (Miller) Greenholt, 89, of York, Pennsylvania, passed peacefully at 6:05am on Sunday, August 16, 2026 at UPMC Harrisburg after a brief illness.
Norma was born on November 19, 1936 in Hallam to the late Willis R. and Jennie May (Seitz) Miller. She was the sixth of nine children.
Norma attended Highmount One Room Schoolhouse until 8 th grade. She then worked at South Pine Nightwear for 17 years, before becoming a homemaker. She married for 49
years to the late LaMar E. Greenholt on April 27, 1956.
Norma loved to be out and about. She was a member of the Teamsters Local 430/776 of York, an axillary member of the local Legions and VFW’s, a member of the York and
Hanover Organ Clubs, a member of the OES Chapter 360, and the Red Hats. Norma also enjoyed going to the Back Room and Rosie’s to listen to live music and dance. She
also enjoyed shopping and going out to eat with family and friends.
Norma is survived by her children, Donna Brown (Don) of Texas, Debra Mather (Kevin) of York, Don Greenholt of Red Lion, Dawn Myers of Red Lion, and Diane Gillette of
Texas. Her Grandchildren, Donna (Robert), JB (Etsuko), Bradley (Pearl), Rebecca(Michael), Sarah, Ashlee (Shawn), Bryan (Angel), and Katy (Erin). She also had 12 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren, with 2 more on the way. Norma is also survived by sisters, Patricia (Bill) Smith, Ruthanna Myers, both of York, and Sandra Zellers of Manheim. As well as a multitude of nieces and nephews, and close family friends, Patti, Trace, Jazzy Joy, Mary, and Cheryl. She was predeceased by her son, Dale E. Greenholt, son-in-law Garth Myers, her grandsons Jason Greenholt and Andrew Myers, granddaughter Kimmie Nace, and siblings, Roy Miller, Alice Hinton, Charles Miller, Elizabeth “Betty” Lease, and Mary Wambaugh.
The family would like to thank the medical staff and employees of the UPMC Lititz and Harrisburg Hospitals, the Life Flight Team, as well as her doctors, Dr. Peoples and Dr. Lipold who took excellent care of Norma during her time at the hospital as well as the family during the difficult time. Your compassion and care were felt by the entire family.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to the PennMar Ridge Meadow Group home located in Stewartstown Pennsylvania where her son currently resides. 19648 Ridge Meadow Rd, Stewartstown, PA.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Gladfelter Funeral Home in York, PA located at 822 E. Market Street. The viewing will be held Thursday, August 20, 2026 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. with the service starting at 6 p.m. A private burial will be at the convenience of the family at a later date.
