Shirl A (McEvoy) Gladfelter, 71, of Weigelstown passed away of natural causes on Sunday, January 30, 2022 at her residence, She was the wife of the late Carl Gladfelter.
Shirl was born in Lancaster on June 1,1950, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Dorothy (Hoover) McEvoy. She worked at the Manchester Cafe prior to her death. She had previously been employed at Round the Clock Diner, Walgreens and 83 Diner.
She leaves a son, Cory Gladfelter of Dover, a brother Charles McEvoy and a sister Ann Williams (Ken). She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who all grew up knowing they were loved by their Aunt Shirl. She leaves behind her niece Tonya Firman who was like a daughter to her. Shirl was preceded in death by her daughter, Alicia Gladfelter and four brothers, Richard McEvoy, Kenneth McEvoy Jr, William McEvoy, and Jay McEvoy; and two sisters, Doris Moffit and Daisy Sharp.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at 3 p.m. at Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc., 822 E. Market St, York. Pastor Ricky McCarl will be officiating. Burial will take place at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc. is entrusted with the arrangements.
