Sylvia C. Rankin, 73, entered into rest on October 17, 2022 at York Hospital. Born on October 23, 1948 in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of Ernestine (Grant) Hart and the late John H. Rankin. Sylvia graduated from York High in 1967. She later went on to work as a information resource specalist for Citizen Independent Access.
Sylvia leaves to cherish her memory, her mother, Ernestine (Grant) Hart; children, Monique Rankin, Richard Roane (Wanda), Malcolm Rankin (Alison), Usiku Rankin, O-Shya Rankin, Zahra Nay (Saren) and Walter Dorsey (Manaya); siblings, Cas Sondra Peters (Phillip), Alexis Key (Roy) and Michael Rankin, Sr. (Shanna); nineteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; her caretaker of 25 years, Sue Millian; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at 12 noon at Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc., 822 E. Market St, York. Family will be officiating the service. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 11 a.m. - 12 noon.
