William M. Holland, Jr. entered the Lord’s presence on Thursday, April 14,
2022, in the comfort of his own home. William was the husband of late
Gladys M. Holland of York, Pennsylvania. On November 27, 1943, William
was born in York, Pennsylvania, the son of the late William and Evanna
Holland Sr. William was a retired military veteran, serving in the Army
national guard and reserves for 23 years ranked as a Sergeant. He was also
retired from Metropolitan Edison Company as a faithful employee of 32
years. William was a faithful member of the Bible Tabernacle Christian
Center of York, Pennsylvania, and was always willing to help in anyway he
could. He was also a lifetime member at both the Veterans of Foreign Wars
(VFW) post 127 and post 556, actively serving as a board member (Chaplin)
at post 556, in York, Pennsylvania. William had a big heart and loved family, helping others, and
never complained about anything he encountered during his time here on earth.
William is survived by his companion Charlotte Coleman, his two daughters Rochelle Fleming,
Cheryllynn (George) Riddley, and a son, Marcus “Tony” Generette all of York. He is also the
proud pop-pop of six grandchildren: Nathan Fleming, Jordan Fleming, Faheem Fleming, Zontae
Fleming, Jamar Generette Sr., and Thynitha (Carmelo) Casiano; Nineteen great-grandchildren,
one great-great grandchild, and one God-daughter Danielle Durham all of York, as well as a host
of nieces, nephews, sons/daughters in love, and extended family and friends. William is
preceded in death by a brother Wayne Holland, and a sister Wanda Proctor of York. William will
be dearly missed by his loved ones and friends. He was a kind and caring man who to know him
was to love him.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, April 22, 2022 at 11 a.m. at The Bible Tabernacle Christian Center, 361 S. Pine St, York with Bishop Carl H. Scott officiating. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. Military Honors will be presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Burial will take place on Monday, April 25, 2022 at 11 am. at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.
