William W. McDonald, 86, passed away May 9, 2026. Born in York, PA on June 15, 1939, he was the son of the late John H. and Emma G. McDonald, Sr.
William was a person of many interests. He found great joy in model railroading. He also loved the outdoors and spent many happy days hiking, camping, canoeing and kayaking. In addition to his love of nature, William had a strong interest in learning and understanding computer technology. William treasured moments with his family and will be deeply missed.
William leaves to cherish his memory, children, Stachia Martin, Koby McDonald and Shawn McDonald; ten grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and brother, John H. McDonald, Jr. He was preceded in death by a brother, James C. McDonald.
A viewing will be held on Monday, May 18, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc., 822 E. Market street York, PA. The service will begin at 12:00 p.m. Burial will immediately follow at Mount Rose Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in William's honor to your favorite charity or those specializing in medical advancement for Alzheimer’s and Dementia disease.
