Caylah Sterner
Caylah Chyenne Nicol Sterner age 23, peacefully entered into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, June 14, 2019. Caylah was born on July 14, 1995 in York, Pa. She was the youngest of 3 daughter’s, born to Chad Michael and Nicol Yolanda Lee (Rice) Sterner.
Caylah was baptized at Shiloh Baptist Church during her early years here at Shiloh. She was involved in several activities, singing on the Youth Choir, learning and growing as student in the S.T.A.R. (Star) Mentoring Program and she loved helping with the children in Children’s Church Ministry.
Caylah attended Northeastern Schools until the 9th grade. Upon moving to Mississippi, she graduated from Pascagoula High School in the class of 2014. After graduation she attended Day Spa Career College, in Mississippi, where she earned her professional Cosmetology License. She enjoyed her profession as a hair stylist at Smart Styles Salon. Caylah’s heart longed to be closer to family, so she moved back to York, Pa.
Wanting to be self-sufficient, Caylah took on a job with the Red Lobster Chain. What was supposed to be a temporary job, became permanent. She started as a Line Cook and continued to learn many facets of the job, which advanced her to become a Certified Grill Master. Caylah’s General Manager shared many beautiful stories with us, about Caylah’s next future goal, which was to become a Professional Grill Master. Caylah adopted a second family within Red Lobster. She loved the camaraderie of her coworkers, the nurturing of Ms. Tiffany and Ms. Christy always giving her motherly advice and a protective eye. Caylah loved her job, never missing a day’s work, always on time, and sometime a whole hour early. I told Caylah she needed to take some vacation time to avoid burnout from the long work days she would put in. Her reply to me, Nana…I get 2 days off a week, so I’m good. She had a great work ethic. When Caylah’s work schedule permitted, she loved to spend time with family and friends…especially her nephew Jay’Dan and her niece Jayleah. She liked going to the beach and lately sunning at the pool. Caylah also enjoyed scrapbooking and watching her favorite shows with her Mom.
Caylah was a carefree and sweet spirit. Coming into her own, enjoying life, and embracing her journey wherever it was to lead her. We will miss you dear girl. Thank you God for Caylah’s 23 years in the land of the living as we humanly know it, and now she resides with you in the heavenly land of the eternal living. She was truly a blessing to the family and others. Cherishing your loving memories, your adoring parents Nicol Sterner, of Pascagoula, MS.
