George E. Breeswine, Sr

George Breeswine, Sr., 82, of York, passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2018.  Born in York, Pa on November 7, 1935, he was the son of the late Melvin E. Breeswine and Ruth R. (Mann) Breeswine Lehr.

George worked at the York Rescue Mission for twenty years.  He spent sixteen of those years, doing what he loved, as the head cook. He had a passion for cooking and also enjoyed collection clocks.

George leaves to cherish his memory, seven children, George E. Breeswine, Jr. and wife Donna, Penny Tusing and husband Russell, Robin Shull and husband Daniel, David Whitcomb and wife Lori, Dorothy Odoms and husband David, Torina Rodriguez and husband Jesus, and Christina Brillhart and husband Michael; 23 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; two sisters, Doris Slenker and Jacqueline Aldinger; two brothers, Steward Breeswine and Melvin Breeswine.  He was preceded in death by a son, Craig S. Breezwine; two grandsons, Adam S. Barton III and Quintin Gwynn; and a sister Nioma Newcomer.

A viewing will be held on Monday, November 5, 2018 from 2p.m - 3p.m. at the Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc., 822 E. Market Street, York, Pa 17403.  The service will begin at 3p.m.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to LifePath Christian Ministries (formerly York Rescue Mission) 367 W. Market Street, York, Pa 17401 in George's memory.
