William Shorb Baublitz, 91, of York entered into rest on October 7, 2021 at 8:20am after a long struggle with prostate cancer, parkinson disease and heart disease.

     He was the husband of the late Doris Elaine (Miller) Baublitz, with whom he shared 41 years of marriage. 

     William was born on November 10, 1929 in York, Pa, son of the late William H. Baublitz, Jr and Catherine Sarah (Shorb) Baublitz. 

     He was a 1947 graduate of William Penn Senior High School. He is a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War serving as a Hospital Corps man Third Class, serving 8 years in the U.S. Navy. William worked for the city of York for 26 1/2 years on the York City Police Force, serving 11 years as a Sergeant. 

     He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, a member of White Rose #15 Fraternal order of Police, member of Retired York City Police Association, member of AARP and a member of the 17th ward Democratic Club. 

     William is survived by a son, William K. Baublitz of York, and his grandson, Landon Baublitz, he was preceded in death by grandsons, William K. Baublitz, Jr and Dustin M. Baublitz; he is also survived by a son, Bradley S. Baublitz and wife Linda of York and their daughter, Stephanie and husband Travis and their two daughters, Edie and Elin; a daughter, Melissa J. Baublitz of York; a son, Brent A. Baublitz and wife Amy and their daughter Alexis and her fiancé Logan Sharp. William was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Jean; his brothers, 1st Lt. Kenneth Eugene Baublitz (USMC) and Edward H. Baublitz Sr.

     A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc. 822 E. Market St, York with Pastor Steven Warner officiating. A viewing will be held form 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. Burial will take place immediately after the service at Kreutz Creek Cemetery. Full military honors will be presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.
